Special Delivery!

Received a few pieces from our good friends 3sixteen today. I just got to give them mad ups for constantly creating good quality products. They pay attention to the littlest detail and its hard to find clothing companies that still do this. It is the little things in life that makes it all worth it.

Voiding the Fill.

I just wanted to let everyone know that Baroke Daniel and a good friend of barokes, Tim, host their own radio show called Voiding the Fill with Chicken or Fish. Check them out at their myspace. Here is a description of their radio show:

"To put current radio down, it sucks. Dan and Tim have been friends since elementary days. But now that they re not in elementary school, they prefer non-elementary music. You follow? They eat it up like airline food. And you should too. Yeah, that chicken might appear to be a little raw, or the that fish a little over prepared, but once that first bite is taken, pure elation.

They are here to share a passion for the lost art of music: rock, hip-hop, electronic, folk, etc. Music. Joking will ensue, guests will appear, all for the pleasure of your pretty little ears. Eat up."

Listen to them for some dope music! Odd humor! and Sporadic glimpses of profanity. DO IT!

Every Wednesday! 1-3PM Central Time!

Booooooom.

In the past, Daniel shared a site with guys that was basically a inspirational blog called FFFFOUND. FFFFOUND is a great site that Daniel and I go on daily but recently I was introduced to a site that is similiar to it. This site was made to envoke creativity for everyone. With its hilarious/awesome name, Booooooom has become a great hit.

(FYI:There are 7 o's in the name)

This blog was created and ran by one of the designers for 3sixteen, Jeff Hamada. A very talented Canadian designer who shares his creativity with the world through this site. Its definitely well worth it to check out. The blog also holds projects for people like you and me. Jeff would post a Theme/Topic and anyone can upload their images that fits under the project theme. Seriously, go check this site out and keep creating kiddies!

Hip hop can exist in Milwaukee.

Talib Kweli took a stroll through the Midwest to Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI last night and I was there upfront and center. Yes. Hip hop can exist even at my medium-sized, minimally diversified university in smaller-than-Chicago-sized city of Milwaukee, cheesehead Wisconsin. It was a pretty hype performance despite the relatively small crowd. But the intimate setting was refreshing -- something the guy standing next to me wasn't. Kweli admitted to his initial lack of excitement in putting on a show at MU, but he ate his words, as the small crowd consisted of some big fans.

I've never been to a Talib Kweli show before and my knowledge of his music career appears to be minimal so by no means am I a Talib Kweli expert. But I do know his reputation for his socially conscious and sometimes political lyrics. Whether it was his intention or not, I found it slightly shocking, yet oddly appropriate for Talib to end his song 'Hell' by addressing the unnecessary religious discrimination that exists within our society (at my Jesuit university by the way). It definitely gave him credibility in my book: that he puts his fame to good use, even if it is in a small way. Thumbs up to going to a Talib Kweli show hopefully near you.
